November 4-29, 2005

Dede Moore:  Flying Carpets
Opening Reception:  Friday, November 4th, 6-8pm
This Annex Gallery show goes back to Loganberry's first beginnings, with rug merchant Dede Moore.  Dede retired in 2001, but that doesn't mean she stopped travelling and collecting.  In fact, she has more time to travel, more stories to share, and some fabulous decorative objects.  There will be rugs of course, and kilims, textiles, ethnic clothing and jewelery, pillows, and other interesting stuff.  We'll celebrate 20+ years of Dede's dealings in woven art while we celebrate Loganberry Books' official 10th Anniversary!

Terry Michelle:  A Woman's Spirituality In Form and Essence
Opening Reception: Friday, Setempber 2nd,  6-8pm
Captured moments of area women in touch with their inner selves and higher powers...  The opening reception was sponsored by Wild Plum Productions and featured live performance by local folk band Slackjaw, and was very well attended. Thanks for coming, folks!

Kathryn Ellis and Joan Lederer: Women on the Verge

Opening Reception: Friday, August 5th, 6-8pm
Two local photographers bring us a slice of Paris, a taste of water, and some details of home.  These are fine, sharp black and white photographic details of objects deserving of a closer look, people and animals in true snapshot fashion which lend new meanings through the photographer's lens. Most of Kathryn's are matted wiht black; most of Joan's are matted with white.  Please pardon the reflections of these photographs of photographs.

Rick Santich:  Panoramic Perspectives
Opening Reception: Friday, July 1st, 6-8pm
Rick Santich is not only a fabulous photographer, but he's been to some fabulous places, both near and far.  Come see the panoramas of Yosemite National Park. Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Blossom Music Center, Nature Center at the Shaker Lakes, The Avenue at Tower City Center, and the Cleveland Lakefront. My little digital camera doesn't quite do justice to the huge panoramic prints that hung on the walls here.

June 3-28, 2005

Farrell Stirtmire:  Meeting of the Mind of Fastir
Opening Reception:  June 4, 3-5pm
Almost entirely self-taught, Farrell worked as an artists' model over a 21-year period at the Cleveland Institute of Art.  He learned about art by listening to teachers' comments as he was modeling.  His paintings are in private collections in Ohio, Michigan and California.  This is his first one-artist show.   "I observe nature, then work from my mind, using ideas from things I've seen.  I've done about 6 portraits, but my real love is landscapes.  My bike is my main means of transportation.  On a bicycle, I can see things more clearly than from a bus or car.  It also gives me time to sit and think - to sit in a park or at the edge of a brook, seeing how the water changes in the light."

May 6-31, 2005

Ellen Darby and Mike Priolo:  The Horse
Opening Reception:  May 6, 6-8pm
Ellen's Western photography fills the walls, while Mike Priolo's short slow-motion film "Equuscapes" plays continuously during the opening wine and cheese reception.  A wonderful photographic tribute to a most majestic animal.

April 2-30, 2005

Roy Pekoc:  Roadside Canvases
Opening Reception:  Saturday, April 2, 1-3pm
When you ride your bike everywhere, it's amazing what you find just lying on the side of the road.  See what Shaker Heights native Roy has found, and how he has transformed them.  The motion of paint now adorns these still pieces of steel and rubber and wood, and guessing their original function is almost as fun the paintings themselves.  Opening Reception coincided with the Edible Books Festival

March 4-29, 2005

Diane Seskes & Dave Repicky: Impressions
Opening Reception Saturday March 5, 1-4pm
Diane Seskes is a prized photographer from Pennisula Ohio, nearby several National Parks of the Cuyahoga Valley that serve as perfect models for her discerning eye.  These, along with some east coast photographs, comprise her showing at the Annex Gallery, together with stamped and molded ceramics by Dave Repicky.  The pun of their show title is well suited for the literary Loganberry, and they get the Loganberry Purple Award for their color coordination on the wall between those two purple doors.

February 4-28, 2005

Harriett Allen:  Altered Looks
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 5, 1-3pm
Harriett's collages depict the constraints and limitations of society with their stark juxtapositions and glued-on objects from our materialstic world.  Some have accompanying text and poetry; each has a story beyond its first appearance.
